Calyn

I met Calyn seven years ago. I was at a mall with a friend in South Carolina and when I saw Calyn she was sitting alone. At first I walked past her but I ended up doubling back because I had to speak to her.

I think her energy drew me in but she also had blue hair, which is probably what caught my attention and made her stand out to me..you have to be bold to rock blue hair..there was just something about her.

I remember saying I couldn’t help but notice her, asked why she was there (she was working), and if she ever considered moving to New York. This was way before I even considered moving to NY but we both knew for sure that something good could come out of this move.

She was 17 years old at the time so I don’t know if she was thinking about her career just yet but this conversation seemed like a confirmation for her.

Before I left we exchanged Instagram handles and since then Ive seen Calyn modeling non-stop. She is now signed, worked with some really dope photographers and has already walked in NYFW. She’s doing it.

The day I took these photos we talked about seeing her in editorial campaigns and booking commercial work. I think it would be cool to see her on TV, or on one of the digital billboards in Times Square.

Seeing Calyn’s drive is refreshing to me. She is hustle personified and proof that if you stay focused on your goal and just keep going, you will make it.

I’ve only met this woman twice in my life but both encounters have been magical. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next.
