Walker Hotel (NSFW)

There was a time I lost my apartment to a fire. I remember being told by someone I considered family to contact Red Cross for shelter. I remember being taken in by a best friend and earning nights to sleep on their couch during a pandemic. There were nights that brought me to hotels like this one, where I had my own bed and no guilt for taking up space. Now that I have a space of my own I spend as much time there as I need. And when I travel it feels good to have a place to come back to.

Over the years I learned that home is not just a place, it is a mindset. It’s a feeling of safety and belonging. It’s an example of peace and tranquility. No matter where you live or lay your head, your home is also your body, your temple, it’s within you. And even though it may have taken you years to establish this level of peace in your life continue to do what you need to maintain and protect it.
